Nathan Rusch did Urban Planning for the city of Spokane, Washington before completing his Masters in Integrated Water Resourse Management from UNESCO-IHE in Delft, the Netherlands.
He conducted research on the overexploitation of the Tabernas aquifer by intensive olive plantations and its effect of domestic water quality in Andalusia, Spain as well as aggregation in WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) monitoring and assessment mechanisms for service provision to refugees transiting Attica, Greece.
He spent the following four years managing an aquaponics greenhouse in Colorado Springs, CO, USA learning how to monetize agricultural water conservation. In 2021, he and his family relocated to Uzbekistan where he consulted in smallholder hydroponic operations for social enterprises, research and educational institutes.
Nathan is currently undertaking his Doctorate in Education while teaching Sustainable Development at IAU. His research interests include recirculating agricultural systems, controlled environment and soilless agriculture.
