Module Description

This module gives a foundation understanding of the operation and management of farming production systems. Students will be introduced to a range diversity of crop and livestock enterprises which feature in Uzbekistan. It will deal with the basic components of best practice for each of the sectors in the context of factors affecting production and operational approaches. This will include an introduction to agricultural production in Uzbekistan, distribution, trends, classification of farming enterprises, characteristics / comparison of intensive and extensive systems. This module will introduce students to the components of business, familiarise them with the systems analysis approach, input categories and costs and the value of output.

Students will be introduced to the basic management for different crop and livestock species, and the growing and production cycles, the principles of nutrition, growth and development and breeding improvement and health and welfare. The module will outline physical and global influences and perspectives of climatic environmental requirements for sustainable crop management.
