Visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the leading higher education and research institutions in Spain
In August 9-15 together with responsible persons from the Presidential Administration, the Acting Rector of the International Agriculture University Aminova M., Director of the Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization Azizov Sh. and Chief Specialist of Education and Innovation Systems Development Department Mardanov H. visited the Kingdom of Spain to sign long-term agreements with leading higher education and research institutions.
During the visit, the delegation met with Mr. Jose Alvarez, CEO of SpanMad at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Kingdom of Spain. During the meeting, Mr. Alvarez talked about Asaf and Ovigen project, specializing in sheep breeding. Genetically modified sheep, which give up to 400-500 liters of milk a year, are used to produce special cheese, which is a very valuable type of cheese. There were considered issues of cooperation between the project and the possibility of exchange of experience between the specialists of the two countries.
There was also a meeting of the delegation with the leading engineer of Fenacore, the National Federation of Irrigation Communities of Spain. Founded in 1955 as a non-profit association, Fenacore is the only official representative of surface and groundwater irrigation, representing nearly 80% of Spanish irrigation in irrigation communities. Thanks to the actions of Fenacore, the Spanish government and the actions of Spanish farmers, it has been possible to increase the area of drip irrigation from 17% in 2000 to almost 54% in 2020. The issues of inviting specialists from Fenacore to conduct master classes in Uzbekistan were worked out.
The meeting was organized with Nikolay Chubinov, Commercial Director of Ingeser. Ingeser is working on a project to set up an agro center for storage, sorting, processing, drying, blast chilling and exporting of fruits and vegetables in Uzbekistan. Engineering, consulting and capacity building for a future capacity building center and agro-incubator for an International Agriculture University will be discussed. Further professional development calls will be organized to follow up on the next steps.
In the Autonomous Region of Castilla-la-Mancha, in the city of Toledo, several meetings are planned with Carlos Alberto, the General Director of the Board of Education, Youth and Sports. In addition, meetings are planned in Castilla-la-Mancha with representatives of the university.
