Bahtiyor Eshchanov is an energy economist by training and is currently an academic coordinator of the International Agricultural University – UK accredited university based in Tashkent. He holds an M.Sc. degree in Sustainable Technologies from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden (2006) and a Ph.D. degree in Applied Economics from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium (2013). Along with independent consulting, Bahtiyor Eshchanov has previously served as a senior economist for Asian Development Bank and chairman of a department at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan.
Bahtiyor Eshchanov also worked as an associate professor at UK accredited universities in Tashkent. He participated in several national and international research projects in partnership with International Financial Institutions and donor organizations, i.e., UNDP, ADB, Swiss REPIC, and Norwegian NUPI. He has dozens of publications in peer-reviewed journals. His research interests include techno-economic feasibility studies, energy policy analysis, energy modeling, water-energy-food nexus, climate change mitigation, and adaptation-related studies. Apart from energy studies, Bahtiyor is working on education and research policy analysis-related studies.
